Single drawer or door base unit
A J-profile along the top edge is enough. The opening line stays continuous with the neighbouring units.
Aluminium gola channels that replace handles on base cabinets and drawer stacks — for modular kitchen OEMs, architects and interior designers across India.
A horizontal gola profile is an aluminium channel fitted along the top edge of a base cabinet or between two drawer fronts, so the door or drawer opens by hooking your fingers into the channel instead of pulling a handle. Mirano's horizontal gola system pairs a J-profile at the top of the cabinet with a C-profile between the drawer fronts, which gives a continuous handleless line across a whole run of base units.
The word gola describes a recessed finger channel. In a horizontal system the channel runs along the width of the cabinet, so a drawer or door can be opened from anywhere along its length, not from one handle position.
Two profile shapes do the work. The J-profile sits at the top of the cabinet and opens the first drawer or door. The C-profile sits between two drawer fronts and serves the drawer above and the drawer below at once.
It is the system most associated with the handleless kitchen. Because the profile is fixed to the carcass rather than to each shutter, it also keeps the front clean: no screw holes, no protruding handles and an even shadow line from one end of the run to the other.

Both belong to the same horizontal system. The difference is where they sit and what they open.
| J profile (top edge) | C profile (between drawers) | |
|---|---|---|
| Position | Top edge of the base cabinet | Between two drawer fronts, or a drawer and a door |
| What it opens | The top drawer or door | The drawer above and the drawer below, through one channel |
| Typical unit | Single-drawer or door base units, kitchen islands | Base units with two or more stacked drawers |
| Used with | A C-profile in multi-drawer stacks | A J-profile at the top of the same unit |
| Other names | Often listed as L-gola in Indian catalogues | C-gola |
Naming differs between catalogues. Check the cross-section drawing, not just the letter, before you place an order.
Match the profile to the drawer layout. The combinations below cover most base-unit designs.
A J-profile along the top edge is enough. The opening line stays continuous with the neighbouring units.
A J-profile at the top and a C-profile between the two drawer fronts. This is the standard setup Mirano describes for its horizontal system.
A J-profile at the top and a C-profile between each pair of drawer fronts, so every drawer opens through its own recess.
Run the horizontal line around corners with the 90° internal and external corners, and switch to a vertical gola profile on tall units.
Dimensions differ by manufacturer, so these are the points to settle with the specification team before cutting boards.
| Factor | Why it matters | Confirm in the datasheet |
|---|---|---|
| Board thickness | The profile has to seat properly in the carcass and shutter board you are using. | Compatible board thickness range |
| Profile height and channel depth | Decides finger room, the gap between drawer fronts and how much internal drawer height is lost. | Height, depth and drawing for the C and J sections |
| Length and cutting | Many horizontal gola profiles are supplied in 3 m lengths. Plan joins at cabinet dividers, not in the middle of a drawer front. | Standard extrusion length and cut-to-size options |
| Finish | The profile can blend with the shutter or stand out as a deliberate line. | Available finishes and batch consistency |
| Caps and corners | End caps and 90° corner pieces close the profile ends and carry the line around corners. | Matching caps and corners for your finish |
| Quantity and lead time | Project and OEM volumes are planned against production and dispatch times. | Lead time for your order size |
Mirano does not publish catalogue dimensions on this page. Request the datasheet and drawings through the quote form for the exact figures.
A gola kitchen is easier to get right when the profile is decided at the carcass stage.
Horizontal gola profiles are fixed into the carcass, so changing from a handle to a gola system after the boards are cut means rework.
The channel takes some internal height. Confirm the profile height against your drawer system and runner before finalising drawer front sizes.
A handleless front shows every inconsistency. Hold the same gap above and below each C-profile across the run.
Pick the gola finish together with the plinth and corner pieces so the kitchen reads as one system.
A general sequence for OEM and site teams. The exact fixing method depends on the section, so follow the fitting guidance supplied with the datasheet.
Mark which units take a J-profile and which take a C-profile, and check the profile height against drawer box height before cutting any boards.
Cut each length to the cabinet width with a fine-tooth blade and remove burrs so the exposed edge is clean. Plan joins at cabinet dividers.
Fix the profile at the planned height with the fixings the section calls for. Hold the same height along the whole run.
Position the shutters and drawer fronts around the profile with a consistent gap above and below the C-profile.
Fit end caps and corners, then open every drawer and door to check finger clearance and alignment.
These are the issues that most often show up on site.
C, J and L naming differs by catalogue. Compare the cross-section drawing, not just the label.
A seam in the middle of a front reads as a flaw on a continuous line. Put joins at cabinet dividers.
Build and test one base unit before cutting the whole job, so height and gap problems show up early.
Tone can vary between production runs. Order the full run, including caps and corners, together.
A horizontal profile works with these parts of Mirano's range. Each is covered on the main Plinth & Gola page.
Finishing pieces that close profile ends and turn corners so the line looks factory-finished at every junction. See Caps & Corners.
Internal and external corner pieces for L-shaped and U-shaped kitchens. See the 90° corners.
